The Power of Solitude

It’s not often I get a full morning off, so today feels extra special. I’ve decided to do something just for me — a long, peaceful walk around the bridges near where I live. It’s about a 7km loop, and I’ve got everything I need packed and ready: a backpack, some good nourishment, plenty of water, and my favourite green smoothie.

This walk isn’t just about getting my steps in — it’s about reconnecting. With nature, with myself, and with the things that really matter.  As I walk, I’ll be taking in all the little things we often rush past — the shimmer of the river, the sounds of birds, the wildflowers that spring up out of nowhere.

Why Solitude Matters

The real purpose of today’s walk, though, is solitude.

Spending time alone is one of the most powerful things you can do for your mental health, creativity, and even your relationships. It’s time to listen — really listen — to your own thoughts, to let ideas breathe, and to reconnect with who you are beneath all the noise.

I make a conscious effort to spend time alone about twice a month. I can feel when it’s time to slow down, pull back, and just be with myself. Every time, I come out of it feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded.

Learning to Enjoy Your Own Company

If solitude feels uncomfortable, that’s okay — it did for me too.

When I first started spending time on my own, I realised there were things deep down that I hadn’t faced yet. Thoughts, memories, emotions — all the stuff we tend to push aside in the busyness of life.

But here’s the thing: once you face those things, you free yourself.

So start small. Spend an hour alone, then two. Maybe half a day. Eventually, you’ll find peace in it — and you might even start to crave that quiet time.

A Walk for the Soul

So that’s my plan for today — a peaceful 7km around the bridges, a few Facebook Lives, a bit of practice, and a lot of reflection.

I’m looking forward to the movement, the quiet, and the creativity that solitude always brings.

Solitude isn’t about escaping the world — it’s about returning to it with renewed purpose.

So, whether you’re walking a few kilometres like me today or just sitting quietly with your coffee, make it a practice. The best business decisions often come from the quietest moments.

Have a beautiful day 🌿

Here’s to your success,
