This week’s motivation is all about something simple but incredibly powerful — home open follow-up calls.
It’s super important to make your follow-up calls on the same day as your home open. Now, I know it’s easy to let this slip. After a big day, you just want to go home, relax with a drink, or chase down that offer. But here’s the thing — waiting until Monday to make those calls is a big mistake.
Does Mondays Work?
Nobody wants a call from a real estate agent on a Monday morning, afternoon, or evening. Think about it — Mondays are hectic! People are getting kids off to school, catching up on work, and ticking off a long to-do list. It’s the busiest day of the week, and the last thing anyone wants is to be interrupted.
And if you miss Monday, chances are by Tuesday or Wednesday, you’ve lost them. People forget 80% of what they hear or talk about, so by midweek, your name and property are no longer front of mind.
Build Relationships, Not Just Sales
Remember, the people you meet at home opens aren’t just potential buyers for one property — they’re potential long-term clients. They might not buy today, but they could become future sellers, buyers, or even advocates who refer others to you.
That’s why it’s so important to make the time — maybe an hour or 90 minutes between 4 and 6pm — to make those calls. And these calls shouldn’t be rushed. Don’t just ask, “Are you buying the property?” Take the time to have a real conversation. Ask how they’re going, what else they’ve seen, and what they’re looking for. It’s about connection, not conversion.
Make It a Discipline
If you missed your follow-ups this week, that’s okay — but from now on, make it a rule: same day follow-ups, every time.
It’s a small discipline that can completely change your business. You’ll see stronger relationships, more referrals, and more confidence in yourself. It’s a habit that pays off in more ways than one.
Make Hay While the Sun Shines
Can you believe we’re in spring already? The spring and summer selling season is here, and it’s the best time of the year to be in real estate. The market is buzzing, and Perth is thriving. People are coming back, opportunities are everywhere, and it’s truly the place to be.
So get out there, make those same-day calls, and thank your lucky stars for being part of this amazing market. Let’s make the most of the last months — it doesn’t get better than this!
Here’s to your success,
Ryan & Anita Thompson
