Technology has revolutionised our world, especially in the last 20 years, and even more so the last five. The reality is TECH is here to stay and if you do not embrace it completely you will be well and truly left behind.
Now, believe it or not, I am not the most tech savvy person, but I welcome anything that will give me an advantage and help me succeed. So, 20 years ago when I saw agents using a palm pilot for their diary, I was like “wow! You have to teach me how to do that” and so began my journey with up-to-the minute technology for business use.
Technology has come a long way from palm pilots and beepers. We now have a huge range of tools that can help us run our businesses better. This being said, the real estate industry is one of the farthest behind when it comes to technology. Most of the offices I get to see are not using their CRM correctly or at all. Most have already changed CRMs two or three times. My belief is that they possibly think the CRM will run itself and of course this is not the case. A CRM is only as good as the person and the SYSTEM that is driving it, and guess whose responsibility that is? YOURS – the Principal, Owner or CEO of the business.
Today technology can be used to generate and nurture clients, manage and prompt staff, help organise the business, allow for top-class service and even get the job done. There is literally tech for nearly everything we need in real estate. There are even different choices for tech that do a similar thing. And then there are the apps. It is quite amazing.
Although I am not a huge fan of ALL or EVERY bit of tech that’s out there, I certainly educate myself on what is available and could benefit and help myself and my clients do a better job, make more money and have greater piece of mind.
One of the things we do at Real Estate Brilliance is stay on top of the TECH world and use it to our advantage. We also educate ourselves just in case a competitor decides to use something that we don’t believe in and we have to overcome that challenge, question or objection.
The most exciting thing about technology is that it can take your little business from local to global if you want it to, so embrace and educate yourself and stay abreast of your competition.
I talk about TECH and how it can help run real estate businesses in my upcoming seminar PRINCIPAL’S CLASSIFIED. Come along and see how it can benefit yours.
